Photovism workshop

Posted on June 28, 2015

As part of Fringe Arts Bath I ran a workshop called Photovism that invited participants to engage in creative collaboration and explore how photography might be used for social change.

Photovism can be defined as…

“Photography used to actively and directly influence public opinion and policy makers to bring about political or social change.”

The workshop opened with an introduction and some examples of how photography has been used in activism. This was followed by a practical session in which small groups were invited to go out on to the streets of Bath with their cameras and interpret the theme of “change”, discussing the results upon their return. The workshop was in association with Save Bathampton Meadows.
